Since 1989, when he first left the familiar comforts of North America, Heath's
travels have landed him in over sixty countries. In the early years of his travel, he
documented his experience with snapshots. Heath continues to travel and
continues to document the places he visits with photographs.
From tense eyes of a boy on a bus in Beijing to the colorful commotion of an
ancient souq in Cairo to serene reflections on the Montenegro Coast, Heath has
an ability to draw viewers into a place. "I want viewers to experience the
tantalizing aroma of the sweet potatoes roasting on the street vendor’s cart, to
smell the heat from the metal workers lathe as he finishes making a new lamp, to
smell fresh bread coming from the corner bakery," states Heath of his
photography, "because you really don’t know a place, have a sense of place
unless you experience the scents of a place."
